14 Long Weekends in 2019, Get Ready to Be Out Of Office!

Let this be your guide to celebrating 2019 and all the long weekends it brings to thee! This could be your year to achieve your travel goals. Find out where to visit in all the long weekends in 2019.

1: Monday, January 14 - Pongal / Sankranti / Bhogi (Restricted Holiday)

Unlike the previous year, Republic Day falls on a saturday making it just another weekend. Sankranti comes with hope to celebrate.

Where to go?

Ahmedabad - International Kite Festival is celebrated on the banks of the River Sabarmati. You can expect to see a sky filled with multicolored kites of various shapes and sizes. This could be a perfect tone-setting to the long weekends in 2019.

If you are from Tamil Nadu, and celebrating Pongal on Tuesday, Jan 15 you also have state leaves on January 16 - Thiruvalluvar Day and January 17 - Uzhavar Day. So take a leave on Monday and be out of office for 6 Days. January is a good time to plan trips to Rajashthan, Gujarat or Madhya Pradesh.

2. Tuesday, February 19 - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti (Maharashtra Only) and Guru Ravidas Jayanti (Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab)

Where to go?

Auli - the Skiing hub of India, at this time of the year it would be covered in snow and would look magical as if a scene from a fairy tale. If you've never visited the Himalayas or Ski this is the ideal time to try something new.

Rann of Kutch - This is the closing time for the 3 month long Rann of Kutch Festival

3. Monday, March 4 - Mahashivratri (Gazetted Holiday)

Where to go?

Munnar - Good time to visit God's own country before it starts getting too hot.

Havelock Islands - If you are feeling the beach vibe, you can visit the Andaman Islands.

Manali - If you want to feel the vibe you can visit old Manali.

4. Thursday, March 21 - Holi (Restricted Holiday)

Where to go?

Ranthambore - Ideal for nature lovers, Ranthambore National Park is the main attraction of this place. During March, you can spot many animals with their little ones. Since the weather will be pleasant, you need not cover up in thick jackets.

Udaipur - You can spend the 4 day long weekend at the city of lakes. The lakes, palaces, forts and building look straight out of a bollywood saga.

5. Friday, April 19 - Good Friday (Gazetted Holiday)

Where to go?

Pokhran - If you are close to or in Rajasthan, visit this small town and stay at Fort Pokhran like a royal. The grandeur of this small fort is worth it, there isn't much to see in the town.

Kashmir - Visit the beautiful Tulip Festival in April. You'll certainly have your Big B - Rekha moment here, if you travel with your loved one.

Visit any hill stations you can before they start getting to crowded.

6. Wednesday, May 1 - May Day (Gazetted Holiday)

Where to go?

Tawang - Situated at a height of 10000 feet, Tawang's beauty reaches out to your soul. Breathtaking valleys, amazing waterfalls and misty rivers add to the charm.

Lakshwadeep - With the abundance of greenery and blue water, it makes for a perfect vacation that offers peace and freshness.

7. Wednesday, June 5 - Eid (Gazetted Holiday)

Where to go?

Bir - Take on paragliding over the valleys and reward yourself with Tibetan food.

Leh Ladakh - Ever thought what it would be like to have landscapes borrowed from paradise filled with colours of Buddhist festivals, chants and awe-inspiring monasteries? Experience all that here!

8. Monday, August 12 - Bakri Eid (Gazetted Holiday)

Where to go?

Dhuandhar Waterfalls - Good time to explore Madhya Pradesh

Goa - Anytime is a good time to visit Goa, not many people lust riding through the streets of Goa with fresh green pastures on both sides, give it a chance!

9. Thursday, August 15 - Independence Day

Where to go?

Gokarna - club this with leave on Monday, August 12 and you can go exploring Goa and Gokarna together.

Zanskar - Head north if the monsoons are to heavy, its the perfect time to visit the Zanskar valley.

10. Monday, September 2 - Ganesh Chaturthi (Restricted Holiday)

Where to go?

Mumbai - Ganesh Chaturthi that marks the celebration of the birth of Lord Ganesha is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Mumbai. The city in its full bloom for 10 days.

Lonavla - One of the famous hill stations in Maharastra. It's a popular choice to spend the weekend and enjoy the rains.

Khajuraho - Not the best time to visit Khajraho but the rainfall creates lush green pastures around the temples.

11. Wednesday, October 2 - Gandhi Jayanti (Gazetted Holiday), Monday, October 7 - Ram Navmi (Restrictred Holiday) & Tuesday, October 8 - Dusshera (Gazetted Holiday)

This could be the longest weekend if planned right.

Where to go?

Lahaul & Spiti - Explore the beautiful landscapes of Himachal Pradesh. Find yourself in the wide variety of flora and fauna found in Pin Valley National Park or catch the breathtaking view of the Milky Way galaxy lying under stars.

12. Tuesday, October 29 - Bhai Dooj (Restricted Holiday)

Where to go?

Assam - Manas National Park, apart from animals, the bird life in the park is also notable and birdwatching is another preferred activity there. Manas National Park must be there on your list of best tourist places to visit in October in India.

13. Tuesday, November 12 - Guru Nanak Jayanti (Gazetted Holiday)

Where to go?

Diu - Pristine beachs and portuguese architecutre, also known as "ihla de calma" - The Calm Island, can be perfect to unwind.

14. Wednesday, December 25 - Christmas (Gazetted Holiday)

Where to go?

Rathambore - One of the best tiger reserves of India, Ranthambore finds itself all the more welcoming in December with the pleasant drop in the temperature.

Sonamarg - In December it's a town with snow-covered flower-laden fields, surrounded by majestic glaciers and serene lakes.

Orccha - Known for its grand palaces and intricately carved temples and striking forts, Orchha is a city with a lot of historical significance and a photographers' delight.
