Honestly, I had never heard of Jabalpur before until my I got into a conversation with a Facebook friend who was at the time residing in Delhi and was from the former town. When I told him I was planning to visit Delhi and Agra in about two months, the first question he asked was "Have you booked your tickets already?" I told him I was going to do so in the next two days because the round trip flight from Mumbai to Delhi was as low as ₹4500 (perks of setting price alerts! read more tips on travelling solo here...)
He immediately asked me to figure out if I could visit more cities, namely - Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Orchha, Jhansi, Gwalior, Mathura. My first reaction in my head was "Oh My God! I need to visit all these places!" But I had to keep it real and I did it by excluding only Mathura. My travel dates were around the Krishna Janmashtami and I thought I should visit Mathura to soak the festival spirit on another occasion.
After all the calculations my Itinerary looked like follows:
Day 1: Jabalpur
Day 2: Khajuraho
Day 3 & 4: Jhansi & Orchha
Day 5: Gwalior
Day 6 & 7: Agra
Day 8 & 9: Delhi
If you are contemplating on how to travel between all these places, fret not! Take a peak into the journey one step at a time. If you are starting from Mumbai just like me you can just follow my lead or if you are starting from somewhere near Delhi just reverse my whole journey. Or pick it up from somewhere in between. Traveling in India has limitless possibilities for you, I'm just naming a few.
